Silver Angel

Silver Angel – this was her actual first and middle name, she was born in the city of Chicago, IL.  She was married and blessed with four children.  After her children were older, she started a career as a LVN (License Vocational Nurse) at Cook County Hospital, in Chicago, Illinois.  When the family relocated to Southern California, Silver began her art career in 1960.  She started with art classes in Pasadena, California.  She found her passion in art.  She amazed herself at the things she could do.  Many of her paintings are stippled - Stippling is a drawing technique in which areas of light and shadow are created using nothing but dots. The basic idea is simple: For darker areas, you apply a greater number of dots and keep them close together. ... While it can be used with a variety of media, stippling is often associated with pen-and-ink work.  Although it was extremely tedious, she loved doing it.  Almost all of the birds she drew were stippling, but many others as well.  Her children were amazed by the way, Silver started with a blank sheet and how it finished so beautifully.  She was always prepared, when she sat down, there was always a colored pencil in hand.  She loved to draw and paint birds, and there are many birds painted.  Sadly, Silver passed away on November 11, 2002 from complications of heart disease and diabetes, but her legacy lives on.
